Step into the world of the Maasai, one of East Africa’s most iconic tribes, known for their vibrant red clothing, unique traditions, and deep connection with nature and livestock. On this day trip, you’ll have the rare opportunity to visit an actual Maasai village and take part in their everyday life.
We’ll pick you up in the morning from your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi and drive to either Longido or Mto wa Mbu, depending on availability. Along the way, you might spot wildlife like zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and even elephants!
What You’ll Do
During your visit, you’ll:
Be welcomed into the Maasai homes (bomas)
Learn how the traditional huts are made from mud and cow dung
Try your hand at chopping and carrying firewood with Maasai women
Take part in cooking, making fire, and herding livestock
Watch or join in beading traditional Maasai jewelry (shanga necklaces)
Help with fencing and building, or even try throwing a spear!
Experience the famous Maasai jumping dance
